Peterborough’s rural residents can learn about innovative, energy-efficient ways to keep their homes warm at a series of workshops this March.
Following successful focus groups in December, local environmental charity PECT is returning to villages near Peterborough this spring to discuss the future of domestic heating with local residents. Maxey, Bainton and Northborough have been selected, along with other rural communities, as target areas for this exciting research project, funded by Innovate UK. PECT are hosting three events in March to give residents a chance to share their views and learn more about how they can upgrade the energy-efficiency, comfort and warmth of their home. Maxey Village Hall will host a special energy-focused version of their popular community brunch event on Saturday 8th March. On Tuesday 11th March, there will be a panel discussion and Q&A session at Bainton Reading Rooms, involving expert installers, historic building professionals and more. Finally, on Tuesday 25th March there will be a workshop on the future of home energy at Northborough & Deeping Gate Village Hall.
These events are open to all residents and are an opportunity to learn more about innovative, energy-saving solutions and sustainable heating technology, such as heat pumps. They will also explore key questions around how to know which systems are right for different properties, how to find trusted local installers, and how to finance energy-efficient upgrades.
Announcing the workshops, Gemma Birley, Project Manager at PECT, said: “We’re looking forward to speaking with the local community and exploring sustainable heating solutions which work for all residents in the villages. The events will give us the opportunity to hear from residents about any concerns they may have but also encourage broader conversations on how we can collectively support a greener future for Peterborough as a whole.”
The dates, times, and locations of the workshops are as follows:
Saturday 8th March – 10:00am – 12:00pm, Maxey Village Hall
Tuesday 11th March – 5:30pm – 7:30pm, Bainton Reading Rooms
Tuesday 25th March – 5:30pm – 7:30pm, Northborough Village Hall
